1 shot in Michigan City’s bar district; police looking for suspects | Crime and courts

MICHIGAN CITY — One person was injured after shots were fired near a sports bar in Michigan City, police said.

As of 10:30 p.m. Sunday, 911 calls reporting gunshots were made to the LaPorte County E-911 Regional Dispatch Center.

The shots were reportedly fired in the Knuckleheads Sports Bar area at 204 West Barker Ave., Michigan City Police Department Sgt. Steve Fourker.

Michigan City Uniform Patrol Team 3 officers immediately responded to the scene to gather information. Although initial reports indicated no one was shot, officers later discovered that a gunshot victim was taken by an unknown third party to Franciscan Health Michigan City, police said. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers searched the area for evidence and witnesses, who were interviewed about the shooting.

“Detectives continue to work on this investigation by interviewing witnesses, processing evidence and assembling CCTV regarding this case,” Forker said. “No additional information regarding this investigation will be released at this time in order to protect the integrity of this ongoing investigation.”
