2 injured in Michigan City shooting, police say | Crime and courts

MICHIGAN CITY — Authorities are seeking information after two victims were shot in a Michigan City neighborhood.

At 7:45 p.m. Friday, first responders were called to investigate the shots fired in the Hitchcock Street area north of U.S. Highway 20, Michigan City Police Department Sgt. . Steve Fourker.

Two people were reportedly shot and officers arrived at the scene with LaPorte County EMS to administer aid.

Medics transported the two gunshot victims to Franciscan Health Michigan City with non-life-threatening injuries. Police searched the area for evidence and witnesses, who were interviewed by detectives.

Authorities continue to interview witnesses, process evidence and conduct video surveillance. Police said to protect the integrity of the investigation, no further information will be immediately released.
