How Michigan State’s Former Players Are Doing in the NBA and Abroad

With the NBA regular season well past the halfway point and the All-Star Game just around the corner on Feb. 20, now is a great time to check out how former Michigan State players are doing. do well in the NBA and in Europe. .

Miles Bridges

Bridges came into her own in her fourth season with Charlotte. He started all 52 games for the Hornets this season, averaging 19.7 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.9 blocks per game. Those five numbers are currently expected to be career highs, and Bridges came close to being selected for the All-Star team.

Bridges is averaging 35.8 minutes per game, up from 29.3 last season and 21.1 since his rookie year.

Bryn Forbes

Forbes is now a member of the Denver Nuggets after the San Antonio Spurs traded custody in a three-way deal on Jan. 19.

Forbes played 10 games for the Nuggets, starting none but producing off the bench, averaging 10.3 points and 1.2 assists per game. In 40 games for the Spurs, the Sexton graduate averaged 9.1 ppg.

For the season, the six-year-old pro is shooting 41% from 3-point field.

Draymond Green

Off the court, Green has signed a deal to be part of TNT’s “Inside the NBA” as part of the pre-game and post-game shows, according to his schedule. It also locks Green into post-career employment in a field where he thrived in one-off appearances. He also launched a new podcast this year, “The Draymond Green Show.”

On the court, Green, 31, continues to be a key cog for the Warriors. He started all 34 games he played this season, averaging 7.9 points, 7.6 rebounds and 7.4 assists per game.

Gary Harris

The eight-year NBA veteran is in his second season with Orlando, where he’s averaging 11.6 points, 1.9 assists and 2.2 rebounds per game. He’s started 30 of the 47 games he’s played, and it’s the first season since his freshman year that Harris wasn’t the full-time starter and injuries weren’t a factor.

His 3-point shooting percentage has increased, however, averaging 38% from downtown, his highest mark since the 2017-18 season.

Aaron Henry

Henry split his season between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Delaware Blue Coats in the G League. He played 17 total minutes over six games with the 76ers, tallying two points, two blocks and a rebound.

In the G League, Henry is averaging 13.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game in six games.

Jaren Jackson Jr.

The fourth-year NBA veteran missed most of last season with a torn meniscus, playing just 11 games. Jackson has started all 54 games for Memphis this season, averaging 16.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.3 blocks and 1.2 assists per game.

Jackson is third in the league in blocks and continues to show his strong outside shooting, having made 92 3-pointers this season.

Xavier Tillman Sr.

With Jackson back in the Memphis roster, playing time dwindled a bit for Tillman in his sophomore season. He’s averaging 4.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and 1.0 assists per game in 39 games, with zero starts.

Tillman played in 59 games last year, starting 12, averaging 6.6 ppg and 4.3 rpg.

Denzel Valentine

Valentine has been a bit crazy this season. In September, he signed a two-year, $4.13 million contract with the Cavaliers and averaged 2.9 points per game in 22 games. Valentine was then traded to the Knicks in January in a three-team trade where he was waived the same day.

Valentine then signed a 10-day contract with Utah on January 10, averaging 2.5 points per game, and was later released on waivers by the Boston Celtics on January 21.

Valentine played five games for the Maine Celtics of the G League, starting three. He’s averaging a double-double at 17.2 points and 10.6 rebounds per game, while adding 6.0 assists for good measure.

Cassius Winston

This season, Winston has only played two games for the Washington Wizards, averaging 1.0 points and 1.0 assists. The point guard averaged 1.9 points in 22 games last season.

Winston played five games for the G League’s Capital City Go-Go. He didn’t start a game, but he averaged 13.0 points, 4.8 assists, and 1.4 steals on 57% shooting from the field and 43% from downtown in those contests.

Abroad

Ben Carter

Carter signed a two-year contract with Hapoel Eilat in Israel in September but only played one game, scoring six points, before tearing his ACL, ending his season.

matt costello

Costello is logging plenty of time in his first season with Baskonia in Spain, averaging 8.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game while playing 20 minutes per game.

Kenny Goin

The hero of the 2019 Elite Eight game against Duke has rebounded this season, starting the 2021-22 campaign with Lavrio Megabolt in Greece, where he averaged 4.6 points and 3.8 rebounds per game in just eight games.

He then moved in December to Atomeromu in Belgium, where he found more success, averaging 8.5 points and 5.1 rebounds per game in 11 starts.

kalin lucas

Lucas is in his first season with Merkezefendi Belediyesi Denizli Basket in Turkey. Lucas has started in 11 of the 12 games he has appeared in, averaging 14.2 points and 5.3 assists.

Adrian Payne

Payne, like Lucas, spent many years overseas. Currently, he is in his first season with Juventus Utena in Lithuania. He played in six games, averaging 9.0 points and 4.3 rebounds off the bench.

Gavin Schilling

Schilling is in his first season with Bayern Munich, where he has started 11 of the 17 games he has played in the German League. He is averaging 4.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.

Travis Trice

Trice is in his first season with WKS Slask Wroclaw in Poland. Trice has played 20 league and EuroCup games, averaging 14.0 points and 6.9 assists.

Nick Ward

Ward plays for CB Coruna in Spain, where he averages 16.0 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. Ward played for teams in Canada and Turkey last season.
