Man robs Adidas store in Michigan City, police say | Crime and courts
MICHIGAN CITY — After a shoe store robbery in a Michigan City store, officers located a man who had a warrant for his arrest, police said.
Austin Ryan Kist-Oman, 25, of Michigan City, faces a robbery charge, according to LaPorte Superior Court records.
At 4:07 p.m. Friday, officers were called to an ongoing robbery at the Adidas store in the Lighthouse Place Premium Outlets at 601 Wabash St. in Michigan City.
Dispatchers received a report that a man entered the store, stole six pairs of shoes and pulled a knife on the sales associates, according to a Michigan City Police Department report. Police said it was later determined that a knife was not used or displayed during the crime, but one of those involved dropped a pocket knife on the floor while fleeing.
Dispatchers alerted police that the suspect was wearing a ski mask, hoodie and sweatpants and drove off in a silver vehicle traveling left towards Wabash Street.

Three minutes later, a Michigan City officer located the suspicious vehicle and stopped it to speak with the occupants of the vehicle. One of the individuals has been identified as Kist-Oman, who has an arrest warrant issued, police said.
After further investigation, police viewed surveillance footage from the store, which showed Kist-Oman and another man leaving the store with goods, according to the report. The second suspect is not yet in custody.
Police recovered the stolen items, including a pair of gold shoes, purple shoes and a backpack, collectively worth $245.
According to court records, Kist-Oman has previously been charged with possession of paraphernalia, unlawful possession of a syringe, and possession of a substance claimed to be a controlled substance. Business is currently ongoing.
