Michigan City Christmas Eve Fatal Shooting Underway, Police Say | Crime and courts

MICHIGAN CITY – A Christmas Eve shooting killed a 20-year-old, police said.

At 3:39 p.m. Friday, police heard gunshots and drove to find the source; However, while on their way, the LaPorte County Regional Dispatch Center alerted them of a reported gunshot victim.

The gunshot victim was found lying on a sidewalk on the west side of Wabash Street, just north of 11th Street.

Agents from Michigan City, Indiana State Police, Michigan City Fire Department and LaPorte County EMS converged at the scene, where the victim was found dead.

Police have located the victim’s family and the man has been identified as London Lamonte Long, 20, of Michigan City. Detectives have launched an investigation, which is ongoing at the moment. So far, no suspects have been taken into custody on Tuesday.

Michigan City police said the shooting appeared to be an isolated incident.
