Mid-Michigan County Commissioner’s races: Who will be on the November ballot?

Updated August 3 at 3 p.m. ET

There were several mid-Michigan county commissioner races contested in the Aug. 2 ballot.

See below which candidates will qualify for the November 8 general election, according to figures released by county clerks as of 3:00 p.m. Wednesday. Results are not official until certified by canvassers’ councils.

The total turnout for this race for the Democratic and Republican primaries was 3,186, or 21% of the 15,172 registered voters.  Republican primary winner Jim Schmidt received 201 votes on Election Day and 163 by mail ballot for a total of 364 votes.  Sole opponent Belinda Fitzpatrick received 113 votes on Election Day and 101 by mail for a grand total of 214. The total votes cast in this race for the Republican Party on Election Day was 314 and the total votes cast by correspondence was 264 for a grand total.  out of 578. Four unresolved written votes were cast on Election Day.

The total turnout for this race for the Democratic and Republican primaries was 5,983, or 37.96% of the 15,762 registered voters.  Democratic primary winner Amy Salisbury received 560 votes on Election Day and 1,300 by mail for a total of 1,860 votes.  Lone opponent Graham Diedrich received 536 votes on Election Day and 1,278 by mail ballot for a grand total of 1,814 votes.  The total number of votes cast for the Democratic Party in this race on Election Day was 1,096 and the total number of votes cast by mail was 2,578 for a grand total of 3,674. Three unresolved written votes were cast on polling day.

Democratic primary winner Brooke Locke received 448 votes on Election Day and 1,090 by mail for a total of 1,538 votes.  Sole opponent Jordan Davis received 218 votes on Election Day and 621 by mail for a total of 839 votes.  The total number of votes cast for the Democratic Party in this race on Election Day was 666 and the total number of votes cast by mail was 1,711 for a grand total of 2,377. Eight unresolved write-in votes were cast on election day and 3 were cast by mail for a total of 11 unresolved votes for this race.
