All of Michigan had torrential rains, but some areas had excessive rainfall. Here is a recap of the rain reports up to Thursday morning.
The heaviest total rains fell in Oakland, Washtenaw and Macomb counties. As of this Thursday morning, Farmington Hills has received 6.36 inches of rain over the past two days.
The total precipitation on the map below gives you a good idea of where the heaviest rain is.
Anywhere shaded in yellow has already had at least two inches of rain.
A closer look at the Detroit and Ann Arbor areas shows that the heaviest rainfall is in the dark red areas.
Areas just north of Ann Arbor and between Farmington Hills and Waterford received between six and eight inches of rain. The highest direct observation of rain came from Farmington Hills at 6.36 inches.
Here are some specific rainfall measurements for southern Lower Michigan. Be sure to watch the Oakland County reports.
Some of these places could still receive another half an inch to an inch of rain this afternoon and evening.
Rain from this thunderstorm system will end by Friday morning, but another rapid six hour rain will move over Lower Michigan on Friday evening and Saturday morning.
