Spartans end the game at the Windy City Classic
East Lansing, Michigan — Michigan State Women’s Golf wrapped up the final day of play at the Windy City Collegiate Classic on Tuesday at the 6,442-yard, par-72 Exmoor Country Club in Highland Park, Illinois.
The 15-team field included 11 teams ranked among the top 40 in the country by Golfstat.
Southern California (#21) shot a par 867 from 3 over and topped the field by nine shots. South Carolina (#4) was second at 12 on par 876, with Oregon (#7) third at 17 on par 881 and Arizona State and Duke (#10) tied for fourth place at 27 on the par 891.
Michigan State ranked 15th out of 15 teams at 58 by 922 (320-302-300).
Second year Brooke Bierman was MSU’s top finisher, tied for 45th at 13-over by 229, while classmate Katie Lu was one stroke back and finished tied for 47th at 14-over by 230.
Fifth year Valery Plata shot a 2-over par 74 in the final round and tied for 51st at 15-over par 231.
Rookie Paula Balanzetegui is tied for 65th at 19-over by 235 and a sophomore Shannon Kennedy tied for 73rd at 23-over by 239.
The Spartans are back on course at the Tar Heel Invitational in North Carolina on October 17-18.
